Questions and answers

No, the Geratherm® clinic cannot be switched between Celsius and Fahrenheit. It only measures in degrees Celsius.

 

Yes, the battery can be changed in the Geratherm® clinic.

Caution: Keep the thermometer and batteries away from small children. If the battery is swallowed, contact a hospital immediately. Do not throw the battery into fire, it may explode.

You can put a hygienic disposable cover on the probe to avoid virus transmission. When using disposable cases, there may be a deviation of 0.1 °C (0.2 °F) from the actual temperature. Discard the disposable sleeves after the measurement.
 

Disposable covers are available from the pharmacy.

Wipe the probe head with a solution of mild soapy water and cold water. Disinfect the thermometer by wiping the sensor and the lower section of the housing with a cloth previously dipped in alcohol (recommendation: isopropyl alcohol 70%). Do not boil the thermometer and do not clean it in the autoclave.

The following disinfectants are approved for disinfecting the Geratherm® clinic. Please refer to the instructions for use for the cleaning method.

  • Ethanol (concentration 70-80%)
  • Isopropyl alcohol (concentration 70-90%)
  • Glutaraldehyde (concentration 0.5-2%)
  •  Alkylpolyaminoethylglycine (concentration 0.05-0.2%)
  •  Benzylkonium chloride (concentration 0.1%)
  •  Benzathonium chloride (concentration 0.1%)
  •  Gluconate chlorhexidine (concentration 0.1-0.5%)
  •  Sodium hypochlorite (concentration 0.02-0.05%)

Note: Any other cleaning solution, dilution or cleaning method may cause the thermometer to malfunction.

The Geratherm® clinic is waterproof.

The Geratherm® clinic complies with IP 27 and is therefore protected against solid foreign bodies with a diameter of 12.5 mm and more and protection against temporary submersion.
